Les Esserts, Verbier, Switzerland
Switzerland overview
For standout natural beauty Switzerland scores a perfect ten. Dramatic, soaring Alpine peaks, cosmopolitan cities and lakeside towns backlit by snow-capped mountains are staples but in recent years they’ve been joined by an invigorating injection of cool new hotels and services to compliment the ever-efficient infrastructure.
Switzerland is a true four-seasons destination with a strong cultural core. It hosts world-famous jazz festivals, illustrious golf and tennis tournaments, glamorous snowy polo matches, international film festivals and of course Art Basel, the most prestigious event in the art fair calendar.
Switzerland is safe, civilised and beautiful: at the very heart of Europe but outside of the Eurozone with a reputation for both financial probity and a health-boosting lifestyle that consistently ranks among the finest. Its mesmeric appeal has won the hearts and minds of buyers from across the globe.
Verbier overview
Verbier is the ideal ski resort for those who enjoy après skiing as much as skiing. With over 410 km of piste and a range of runs from the gentle Les Esserts to the challenging bumps of Tortin, there is plenty for active novice and advanced skiers.
In addition to the extensive and well maintained pistes, Verbier has vast marked off-piste areas and is recognized as one of the premiere "off-piste" resorts in the world. The après ski scene at Verbier is well known and has a justifiably high reputation with established names such as Farinet, Coco and The Farm Club.
In the summertime there are 400Â km of hiking trails and hikers can follow the tracks of the chamois and ibex through the mountains, some of them covered with snow all year round. There are 200Â km of mountain bike piste. Other activities include climbing, paragliding, swimming, golf, badminton, ice karting, trips aboard the mountain railways in the area, and an annual music festival.
Getting there:
Verbier can be accessed by road or by train. From Martigny a regional train leads to Le Châble and from there a cable car or bus takes you up to Verbier.
